Ross Shickler Obituary
Ross Howard Shickler, Ed.D., of Rancho Mirage, CA passed away on December 10th, 2013 at the age of 77. Ross was a loving father, husband, grandfather, mentor and friend to all. He was born in Buffalo, NY on March 2nd, 1936 to Howard W. Shickler and Dorothea (Rogers) Shickler. In 1960 he relocated to Southern California, where he worked for the Long Beach Unified School District from 1960-2002 as a teacher and administrator. It would be difficult to surpass his knowledge and love of fishing, see his website at www.rosshshickler.com. Ross's passions extended beyond education and fishing to photography, baseball, astronomy, and history. He is survived by his wife, Merrie Lyn, brothers, Roger (Kathy) of Laguna Woods, CA and Robert of Ballwin, MO; three children, Michael (Renee) of Irvine, CA; Suzanne Grady of Murrieta, CA, and Matthew (Liz) of Twenty-Nine Palms, CA. Survivors also include grandchildren, Jessica, Joceline, Claire, Renee, Mary and Zayne and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
