Susan Mansfield Scribner

1951 - 2021

Susan Mansfield Scribner passed away on January 10, 2021 at home in Long Beach, now pain free. Susan was born in Garden City, Long Island on July 18, 1951 to Kimball and Gloria Scribner. A fierce advocate and well respected consultant for the nonprofit sector, Susan spent her career working with over 500 regional and national nonprofits in the United States, Canada and Russia. A leading expert in all aspects of nonprofit financial and organizational development, she also lectured and taught at UCLA, University of Judaism, Cornell University, CSULB and captivated many at conferences and retreats. She authored several books, including Boards from Hell and How to Ask for Money Without Fainting, many of which were translated into a variety of languages. Her pride and joy were her family whom will miss her greatly, including her sister, Colleen Baliestrieri (Peter); niece, Kim Wilson (Geoff), their children Harrison, Reaves & Emilia; niece, Alissa Paris and son, Cooper; her dearest friend, Mary Richey and their dog, Leo. All who knew her will always remember her wild and wicked sense of humor, positive outlook and outrageous halloween costumes. She was a volunteer Sign Language interpreter, a licensed aircraft pilot and winner of the 1969 Transatlantic Air Race from New York to London. A Celebration of her Life will be planned when we can masklessly come together to honor this amazing woman, and share hysterical stories that highlight her sarcastic sense of humor.
