Alex Cardon Obituary
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Olivia J. Cardon of the family home; two sons, Robert Cardon and wife, Jessica of Albuquerque and John Cardon and fiancée, Crystal of Las Cruces; two brothers, Tony Apodaca and wife, Minerva and Michael Apodaca and wife, Gloria all of Las Cruces; three sisters, Irene Romero of Bedford, Texas, Gracie A. McIntyre and Rose Marie Coca and husband, Joe all of Las Cruces; his stepfather, Nick Apodaca. Other survivors include his beloved grandchildren, Katelyn, Anthony and Alexandra, who held a special place in his heart; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, David Cardon and his mother, the late Mrs. Delia Apodaca.
Alex enjoyed being a grandfather, and loved his grandchildren, his wife and family so very much, but the greatest love he had was "honoring the Lord". For many years he was a dedicated Sunday school teacher, by trade he was a builder, and humbly supported the construction of places of worship in different locations without asking for anything in return. Today " he dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, he abides under the shadow of the almighty, I will say of the Lord, he is my refuge and my fortress; my God; in him will I trust" psalm 91: 1,2
Funeral Services for Mr. Cardon will be held at 1 PM Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in Baca's Chapel of Prayer, 300 E. Boutz Road with Pastor James Pinckard, officiating. Concluding Service and Interment will follow in Masonic Cemetery, 760 S. Compress Road, where he will be laid to rest. Military Honors will be accorded by the Marine Corps League-El Perro Diablo Detachment.
Serving as casket bearers will be Robert and John Cardon, Tony and Michael Apodaca, Eric Polanco and Hector Johnson. Honorary bearer will be his sister, Gracie A. McIntyre.
Entrusted to the care of Baca's Funeral Chapels, Las Cruces. 527-2222.
