Carlos Sapien Obituary
Visitation will be Monday afternoon September 24, 2007 from 3 until 5 o'clock at Baca's Funeral Chapels. The prayer vigil will be that evening at 7 o'clock at St. Ann's Catholic Church. Mass of the Christian burial will be Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock also at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Reverend Ronald J. Burke officiating.
He was born September 11, 1931 in El Paso, Texas to Elvira Valenzuela and Fructoso Sapien. Carlos was a Deming resident for 67 years. He married Dolores Chavez on March 28, 1954 and had his own mechanic business at Lewis Flats for many years. Carlos loved to dance, being in the outdoors and socializing with his family and friends. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Sapien of the home; son, Carlos Sapien Jr. and wife, Zoila of Deming; daughter, Sylvia Griego of La Puente, California; brother, Raul Sapien of El Paso; sister, Mary Vasquez and husband Pete of Deming; 6 grandchildren, Sergio Sapien and wife Mary Ann, Sophia Sapien and fiancé, Jamal Washington, Julian Rodriguez, Juliana Crooker and husband Ladd, Jeanette Claproth and husband Robby, Julia Ramona Panapa and husband Sal; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

We are deeply saddened to learn of Carlos' passing. We have wonderful memories of Deming with the Sapien family, especially Carlos Jr. who was my music student.
