Carolyn Jean Swanson Nordmeyer, 71, of Richardson, TX, passed away on June 18th 2013. Carolyn was laid to rest in a private graveside service in the Nordmeyer family plot in York NE June 28th 2013. She is survived by her husband, Roger Nordmeyer, mother, Ernestine Swanson of Plano, TX and brother-in-law Ronald Nordmeyer (Lisa) of Pennsylvania. She is also survived by her aunt, Harriet Taylor of Las Cruces, NM; cousins Ernie, Fred (Cyndi), & Eva Taylor; and Yates (Mercy), Jack, Sylvia, & Tim Folk. A Celebration of Life memorial event was held at the Richardson Woman's Club Founders Hall, 2005 North Cliffe Dr, Richardson, TX on Sunday, July 10, 2016.
Carolyn was born in San Diego, CA, July 10, 1944 and moved to Bayard, NM, in 1947 where she attended Bayard Elementary and Cobre High School graduating in 1961. She received a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Science, cum laude, in 1973 and a Master of Science in Computer Science specializing in computer architecture and operating systems, in 1975, from the College of Engineering, The Ohio State University.
Carolyn joined Texas Instruments in 1976 where she worked as a Software Assessment Program Manager for high maturity organizations, Software Systems Engineer, Project Manager and Software Design Engineer retiring in 1998. Carolyn worked in the TI STeP group promoting software process improvement throughout TI and as a leader conducting Software Assessments in the US as well as overseas in India, Israel, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Portugal, England and France.
After retiring from TI, Carolyn continued her work as a CMM Lead Assessor as an independent consultant leading CMM-based Appraisals for Internal Process Improvement at government, military and commercial institutions.
Carolyn was an active member and past president of Altrusa International of Dallas and Altrusa International of Richardson and was a founding trustee of the Altrusa Richardson Foundation. Altrusa is a non-profit organization of members from all walks of life united in community service.
Carolyn was passionate about her dogs always adopting rescued and fostered animals. She is survived by her dogs Lily & Poppy and was preceded in death by her past pets Skip-It, Daffodil, Daisy, Cocoa and Rosie.

www.altrusarichardson.com). These dedicated funds will be given to Altrusa Foundation Lamplighters in honor of Carolyn and to ASAPP (Altrusa Sisters Animal Pet Projects / Memorial) as Carolyn was so passionate about Altrusa, the Foundation, and animals.
