1934 - 2007

Cleotilde J. "Cleo" Garcia, 72, of Alamogordo, died Friday, May 25, 2007, at her home.
Mrs. Garcia was born September 16, 1934 in San Pablo, New Mexico and was a longtime resident of Otero County. She was a member of St. Jude Mission in Alamogordo.
Survivors include her daughter Margaret A. Holguin and her husband Gus of Alamogordo; four sons, Jerry Melendrez of Dallas, Texas, Frank Melendrez and his wife Katie of Las Cruces, Larry Melendrez and his companion Liz Boliva of Las Cruces, and James Melendrez and his wife Nelda of Las Cruces; 12 grandchildren, Cassandra, Veronica and Audrey Holguin of Alamogordo, Ulie Hermosillo and her husband Raul of Nashville, Tennessee, Gene Melendrez of Las Cruces, Dennis, Stevie and Bobby Melendrez of Las Cruces, and Randy, Michael, Danny and Honey Melendrez of Las Cruces; 11 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a brother Victor Jaramillo and his wife Nell of Ruidoso; three sisters, Arselia Herrera of Tularosa, Mary "Memes" Marrujo and her husband Louis of Tularosa, and Virginia "Budgie" Gutierrez and her husband Johnny of Alamogordo; and special friends, Lore Anaya, Esperanza Duken, Priscilla Wilson and Estella Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Reynaldo "Rey" Garcia, in 1995; a brother Jose P. Jaramillo; and two grandchildren, Stephen and Gary Melendrez.
A vigil service will be conducted Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home Chapel in Alamogordo with the Rosary to be recited by Pat Teschler, Mary Ann Miller, Pat White, Priscilla Wilson and Aggie Sider.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Wednesday at 1 p.m. at St. Jude Mission in Alamogordo with Father Wayne D. Herpin, S.J. as celebrant.
Cremation will follow and committal services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Our Ladyof Light Catholic Cemetery in La Luz with Father Timon Costello, O.F.M., Cap. officiating.
