Dorothy Mae Roberts

Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Dorothy Mae Roberts, 81, entered eternal life to be with her Heavenly Father on February 25, 2010. She was born October 09, 1928 in Tahoka, Texas. Her family moved to Roswell during the depression years and she lived in what was known as "tent city" by the Pecos River.

The family eventually bought and worked a farm where she was grew up. She was the ninth of ten children born to Will and Maude Finley.

Dorothy was the last surviving Finley of that generation. In her younger years she farmed, camped, enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and was an excellent marksman. She loved to work crossword puzzles and playing checkers, but her favorite was playing the game of forty-two (which she later carried on to her children and grandchildren, and being a fierce competitor she challenged them to forty-two tournaments whenever there was a family gathering). She has two daughters Sharron Stuart and Jerron Roberts, of Las Cruces. She worked hard at everything she did with a strong sense of work ethic and was highly regarded as a secretary and office manager. She managed Las Cruces Mobile Home Park from 1990 to the present and always looked out for the well being of the residents. She loved to garden and raised "bragging tomatoes". Her loyal dog and companion, Chester, was never far from her feet. She was an active member of Mesilla Park Community Church where she served as a greeter.

She is survived by her two daughters Jerron Roberts and Sharron Stuart and her husband Randy of Las Cruces. Grandsons, Jon Willingham and wife Holley of Frisco, Texas. Jeb Stuart and wife Melanie; Chance Roberts and step granddaughter, D'Anne Stuart all of Las Cruces. She has six great grandchildren, Connor and Ty Willingham, Nathan and Carson Stuart and Garrett and Taylor Hargrove.
Memorial Services to celebrate her life will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 02, 2010 at Getz Funeral Home with Rev. Dennis Diaz officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Safe Haven Animal Shelter on 144 Wyatt Dr. Las Cruces, New Mexico 88005.
