Survived by his wife Nancy of 45 years, two sons: Mark and Rodney (Jennifer), and three grandchildren: Benjamin, Tabitha, and Ian.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, July 20, 2018 at University United Methodist Church, 2000 S. Locust Street.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Friends of The Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum or University United Methodist Church.

Swimmer Gary and I clocked many a mile in the dingy but beloved Monroe Avenue YMCA in Rochester, New York. I'll always remember him for his generosity and humor. Gary loved to chuckle at the absurdities of lifeamused, but always in a kindly, forgiving way. And since life provides endless absurdities (including in our own behavior), there was always a lot to laugh at. I thought of him today as I was wallowing once again in that same Monroe pool, very much feeling him swimming beside me into eternity.

I am saddened to hear of Gary's passing. I remember him fondly from our days at Immanuel Baptist Church. In fact I think Gary and I were baptised there on the same day. Gary, Nancy and the boys were always there, ready to lend a hand and share a smile. He will be greatly missed. God speed Gary, may you rest in God's eternal peace.

I remember as a teenager, when Gary and my cousin Nancy were dating, how they would ride bikes and have other fun adventures. Even back then, I thought that they would have a long and happy marriage. I know he will be missed not only by his relatives but his adopted Las Cruces family where he enjoyed so much of his life. My thoughts and prayers to Nancy, Mark, Rodney and his family.

Dick and I remember two years ago when Gary and Nancy invited us to see a show in Las Cruces and had lunch. Gary had much knowledge of history of Las Cruces . We are both saddened of his passing. Our prayers are with Nancy and his family

Gary was our neighbor for 20 plus years in Rochester, I will always remember his kind heart and great spirit. He was a loving husband and great father and wonderful friend. My deepest condolences to Nancy, Mark and Rodney. Keep his memory in your hearts and he will be with you always.
