Manuel Ybarra

Our beloved father, grandfather, and brother, Manuel A. Ybarra, Sr., 85, of Berino passed from this life to be with his Lord on August 21, 2011. Manuel, a devoted Catholic was born July 3, 1926 to Felipe and Francisca Ybarra in La Mesa, New Mexico and was the fourth of three brothers and five sisters. He married Ida Tellez in 1945 and raised 6 children. Manuel instilled in his family a love for the Lord, family and the land. He was loving and generous with his family and friends. Manuel was a lifelong area farmer with strong ties to the land and sat on several Cotton Gin Co-op Boards such as the Borderland Gin and the Berino Gin, as well as being a member of the Southwest Cotton Growers Association. Manuel was preceded in death by his first wife Ida; second wife Margaret; daughter, Elisa; parents, Francisca and Felipe; brothers, George and Salvador and sister, Epifania. He leaves behind his children, Manuel Ybarra Jr. and wife Laura of Berino, Luis Ybarra and wife Lori of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Erminda Ybarra of Berino, Dr. Daniel Ybarra of Pasadena Texas, Renalee Wodell of Grand Rapids, Michigan; a brother, Jose Ybarra and wife Emma of Mesquite; sisters, Trinidad Gonzalez of Las Cruces, Mary Ybarra of Pasadena, California, Ysidra Enriquez of Pico Rivera, California, and Eduvijes Ramirez of La Mesa. Other survivors include ten grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. At Mr. Ybarra's request, cremation will take place and a Prayer Vigil will be held at 7 PM, Thursday, August 25, 2011 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 224 Lincoln Avenue in Anthony. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 AM, Friday, August 26, 2011 in the same church. The Rite of Committal and Inurnment will follow in San Jose Cemetery in La Mesa.
