Marta Romero

Marta O. Romero, 67, slipped off to Eternal Life on January 12, 2016 at home surrounded by love with her family. Marta was born on April 15, 1948 to Ventura and Eduvijes Olivas. She was the oldest of six siblings. Marta then grew to love Joe T. Romero and together they raised a family of three children of their own. Marta lived her life and worked for the State of New Mexico Workers Comp after spending 24 years for the Catholic Diocese of Las Cruces. Marta also had the best title, one she strove for, and that was to be called "Grandma" to Michael Angel Rodriguez (19), Danny Joe Rey Romero (15), Lexi Trejo (14) and William Matthew Bailey (4). Her grandchildren held most of her heart strings. Marta is survived by Joe T. Romero, Danny Paul Romero, Alejandro Jose Romero (Irene Trejo) and Sonya Elizabeth Bailey (Michael Joseph Bailey). Others left to mourn her loss are brothers Edward Olivas (Mary), Gilbert Olivas (Debra) and Gen Olivas as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. Marta was greeted into heaven by Our Heavenly Father and parents Ventura and Eduvijes Olivas, sister Sabina Singh, brother Peter Olivas, and nephew Reymundo Hernandez.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice in Marta's name.
