Ramon Bernal Obituary

Ramon Bernal, Jr., 85, of Las Cruces entered eternal rest Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Mountain View Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 18, 1928 in Mesilla Park to Ramon Sr. and Rafaela Guerra Bernal. Ramon served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. While in the Navy, he was a member of the boxing team. Mr. Bernal retired from American Linen as a route salesman and was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. Survivors include his loving wife, Bertha Paez Bernal of the family home; three sons, Arturo Bernal (Darelene J.), Richard R. Bernal, all of Las Cruces, Patrick L. Bernal (Reneé) of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers, Reymundo Bernal (Carol), Ronnie Bernal (Jenny), all also of Las Cruces. Other survivors include five grandchildren, Eric, Marc, Michelle, Danielle and Madison Bernal; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Mia and Jaylen. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolina; and two brothers, Arturo and Cipriano. At Mr. Bernal's request cremation will take place and a memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1110 Burke Road, Las Cruces with Elder Ramon Ortega presiding. I hadn't run into Moni for many years, but I grew up with him and Cipi and Tuti(who was in my class) in Mesilla Park and I always remember Moni as a class guy who had a real presence in this world of the type you could count on, a gentleman and a man of his word. Condolences from all the Boykins.
