Raymond Lucero Obituary
Those left to mourn his passing include his loving wife of 19 years, Shirley Maese Lucero, of the family home; one son, Raymond Andrew Lucero (Lea); three daughters, Priscilla Marmolejo (Cesar), and Susie Lucero, all of Las Cruces, and JoAnn Au (Jorge III), of Rincon; five brothers, Arturo Lucero, Danny Lucero (Romi), all of Doña Ana, Eddie Lucero (Kay), and Martin Lucero, of Las Cruces, and Andy Lucero (Karen) of Tucson, Arizona; six sisters, Stella Cuaron (Willie Sr.), Rosella Barrientos (Richard), Isabel Calzada (Edward) and Loretta Lucero, all of Doña Ana, Rosemary Apodaca and Alice Vigil (Sam), all of Las Cruces; and his former wife, Mary Lucero. Other survivors include 11 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, a sister-in-law, Dolores Lucero, and a brother-in-law, Alfonso Apodaca.
Recitation of the rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, in Baca's Funeral Chapels, 300 E. Boutz Road. The holy Mass of resurrection will celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, in the Basilica de San Albino, 2280 Calle Principal, in Mesilla with the Rev. Valentine Jankowski, celebrant. Cremation will follow and inurnment of cremains will be held at a later date in San Albino Cemetery.
Serving as casket bearers will be Jonah, Joshua and Andy Lucero, Cipriano Gomez, Eli Apodaca and Arturo Lucero.

You've gone good friend but not from our hearts. We had lots of laughs together and I'll never forget the surprise you gave to me while we were working nights for the generator endurance tests. I came into the office and you offered me a bacon wrapped filet mignon of elk. Best steak I ever ate! I believe you and some other Raytheon employees went up to Colorado to hunt and brought back some choice game meat. Well Ray, time uts running out for all of us. We are what our grandparents were way back. I hope to meet again in gloryland dear friend!

Ray found the way to his Father God in Heaven. He said this simple prayer with all his heart, "I open the doors of my heart. I invite You Jesus, come in and be my personal Lord and Savior. I repent of all my sin and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit." He is now feasting at the Banquet the Lord has prepared for him. The angels are rejoicing.
