Robert Montoya Obituary

Robert A. Montoya (Bobby) 79, of Mesquite, died Tuesday, August 31, 2011 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice. He was born May 14, 1932 in Mesquite, New Mexico to Jose D. and Carmen Montoya. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served our country honorably. Bobby was a retired farmer. He was a hard worker and enjoyed working on the family owned farm. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 52 years; Rose of the family home, daughter Christine Mahan (Steven) of Roswell, NM, daughter, Brenda Montoya, son Robert Montoya (Lisa); three grandchildren: Rene' Benavidez, Vanessa Perez, and Ryan Smith of Albuquerque; three great grandchildren: Jestine, Eddie, and Evan; two sisters: Elisa Montoya, Cecilia Gomez (Joe) of Albuquerque, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at 2:00 PM at St. Genevieve's Catholic Church, 100 S. Espina St., Las Cruces, New Mexico begginning with a rosary, mass and followed with military homors. A private family inurnment of cremains will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in his memory to La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice 299 E. Montan Ave., Las Cruces, New Mexico 88005.
