1930 - 2018

Russell Allen Olson, age 87, of Las Cruces, New Mexico passed away on January 5, 2018.
Russell Allen Olson was born in Eau Claire, Wi to Melvin and Agnes Olson on May 19,1930. After Graduation from Colfax High School, he entered the United States Air Force, serving as a ?ight engineer. Before his honorable discharge, he met the love of his life, Nadine K. Inman and they married on June 13, 1953. Russell's work in government contract missile installation took him and his family around the world. He was a devoted husband, father, grand-father, great-grand-father and member of the Catholic Church. Russell spent many Tuesdays at the Holy Cross Retreat House making repairs and improvements. He served as reader and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and was a past member of Voz Vaqueros Choir. His wood working skills were amazing and many of his "Three Crosses" are displayed throughout the city of Las Cruces.

Russell is preceded in death by his wife, Nadine Olson, parents, Melvin and Agnes Olson, brother Donald Olson, sisters Beatrice Olson and Dorothy Hilson, daughter Mary Christine Olson, son-in-law Je?rey Murray, and grand-daughter Amanda Booth.

Left to cherish his memory are: daughters Nancy Booth (Bruce), Lynn Murray, MaryAnn Swerhun (Steven), MaryBeth Fidler (Chuck); grand-children Russell Booth (Alissa), Meghan Burford (Casey), Kelly Murray (Gaston Azubel-Goldstein), Ashley Fidler, Charlie Fidler, Noah Swerhun; great-grand-children Scout and Piper Booth, Canyon and Camble Burford, and Katherine Azubel-Goldstein.

Pall bearers will be Gary Doucette, Michael Inman, Russell Booth, Casey Burford, Chuck Fidler, Steven Swerhun, Noah Swerhun, and Charlie Garcia.

In lieu of ?owers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3600 Parroquia St., Las Cruces NM 88001 or Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 Montana Ave., Las Cruces, NM 88005.

Viewing will be at 6:30 with Rosary following on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at La Paz - Graham's Funeral Home, 555 West Amador, Las Cruces NM. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 10:00 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetary, 5140 W. Picacho Ave., Las Cruces, NM 88007. Father Valentine Jankowski will o?ciate the services.
