Sandra Ruth Appleton

SANDRA RUTH APPLETON, 66, of Las Cruces entered eternal life Wednesday, January 7, 2009 following a long illness. She was born May 25, 1942 in Salem Massachusetts to Dorothy Ruth and Daniel Tredway. In 1960 Sandra graduated from Beverly High School in Beverly, Massachusetts and Beverly Hospital School of Nursing in 1963. She went on to work as an RN at Beverly Hospital, St. Claire's Hospital in Schenectady, New York and Amesbury Hospital in Amesbury, Massachusetts. Sandra also worked as a private duty nurse, doctor's office nurse, and as a school nurse. Her last position was as an IV therapist for Dr. Bishnu Rauth here in Las Cruces. Sandra will be remembered by her family, friends and patients as a competent and caring "nightingale".
Her passions included her family, the ocean in winter, sail boating, and her magnificent rose gardens.
Sandra was the wife of Daniel Appleton, with whom she had a daughter, Robin Ann Appleton, both of Las Cruces. Other survivors include an uncle, William McDonald, nephews, David and Wayne McDonald, and William Appleton, as well as a niece, Esther Clark.
Cremation will take place and services will be held at a later date in Massachusetts.
