Socorro Vasquez Obituary
A memorial vigil service will take place this evening, August 17, 2010, at 7 o'clock at Holy Family Catholic Church led by Yvonne Chacon. The chosen cremation has taken place at Baca's Mimbres Crematory and a private inurnment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery.
"Coy" as she was affectionately known was born April 21, 1945 in Deming to Lucia Garcia and Jesus Chacon. She attended Deming Public Schools and on February 09, 1964 she married Henry Vasquez. Together they raised their families and took care of the needs of many others as they worked hard in the service station business. Close to the end of her working career she owned and operated "Coy's La Fonda" restaurant before retiring. She still had aspirations of returning to work in the food industry in which she excelled. Socorro was a communicant of the Catholic Church and followed Jesus' Commandment to love one another.
Survivors include a daughter, Yolanda and husband Gene Schubert of El Paso, Texas; two sons, Frankie and Chuy Vasquez, Deming; three sisters, Teresa Avalos, Las Cruces, Gloria Rodriguez, El Paso and Mary Lauterner, Deming; three grandchildren, Franki Marie Vasquez, Christian Pierro Vasquez and Luci Jean Schubert; one great-grandchild, Moon Devon Vasquez.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Henry who died June 29, 2008; infant son, Henry Vasquez Jr.; grandson, Daniel Pierro Vasquez; two brothers, Miley and Jesus "Chuy" Chacon and sister, Molly Chacon.

Yolanda, Frankie, and Chuy. I am very sorry to hear about your mom. She was a great person to be around. She always had a beautiful smile and was a great listener. She was a grat Mother and would show it. She loved you guys very much and would always be there for you when you needed her. She would also help out many others when in need. A very selfless, generous, and loving lady she was. May she rest in peace and happiness with her love of her life....your Dad. God Bless you all.

Yolanda, GoGo, Mary, Teresa, Bobby, Frankie, Chuy, sincere condolences to you all. Coy was such a good woman but that is not something you didn't already know, I know I will miss her smiling face. Back in 1982 she gave me the most beautiful baby shower and that is one of the things I'll never forget about her, the beautiful cake she made. She was always there to lend a helping hand no matter who needed it, I enjoyed working with her in the resturant. She always had that loving way to give you advice even if you didn't want to hear it but knew it would help you out in the long run. So once again Coy THANK YOU so much for all you did for me. I'll always remember you and love you for the beautiful person you are. RIP my dear friend.
