Andrew Soviak Obituary
West Covina, CA
Andrew Soviak passed away on April 17, 2017 at the age of 92, following a long illness. He was born in Scranton, and spent most of his adult life living in West Covina, CA. Andrew served in the U.S. Marine Corp. in the Pacific during WWII. After that, he joined the Los Angeles Police Department serving the citizens of Los Angeles as a Police Officer for 30 years. He was a proud member of LAPD California American Legion Post 0381 for 71 years. His passion to make a difference in his community with his love of baseball, inspired him to volunteer for 16 years as the coach of "The Sliders" for the Pacific Coast Little League in West Covina. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Inge, who loved him unconditionally and tirelessly cared for him in his last years. He is also survived by his daughters, Mary Flagg and Jytte Leventhal; son-in-laws, Raymond Flagg and Dr. Lawrence Leventhal; as well as four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother; and several nieces and nephews.
