Charles J. Hertzog BRISTOL, TN Charles Joseph Hertzog, 75, went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, May 16, 2014, while at his home in Bristol, Tenn., after a long, hard-fought battle against multiple health issues. During his final days, he was surrounded by family and friends. Mr. Hertzog was a life-long resident of Annville until almost three years ago when he moved to Tennessee, where his wife, Shirley, had lived until their marriage in 2002. Mr. Hertzog was preceded in death by his first wife, Carole Ferguson Hertzog, as well as his parents, John Allen Hertzog and Margaret Mae Smith Hertzog. With the assistance of Weaver Funeral Home, Avoca Christian Church, located at 2417 Volunteer Pkwy. in Bristol, Tenn., will serve as the location for both the family visitation and the funeral service. Visitation will be held from 5 to 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2014. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Bob Robinson officiating. The burial will take place Monday, May 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery, located at 1019 East Valley Drive in Bristol, Va. Military honors will be conducted by the VFW Honor Guard.
