Mrs. Deiter

Sorry for you loss.

I was saddened to read of George's passing. He was a teacher at Harrison whose enthusiasm and concern for his students was much appreciated. Helen was later my phys. ed teacher who also was a mentor and made a positive impact on my life. I regret not knowing the Deiters lived a short distance from my home in Ocala as I surely would have paid them a visit. My thoughts are with you at this time of sorrow.
Respectfully,

Helen, Ray,
When I received the call telling me of George's passing last Saturday evening my mind immediately went to marching outside on the Harrison school lot with those wooden batons and George(sorry, Mr.Deiter) barking commands. Little did I know how important the lessons that exercise taught me and how his influence would effect me later in life. I asked him why he made us do that a few years ago at a Harrison Reunion. His answer was quick and pointed-you needed discipline!! How right he was and still is. That summed up in a nutshell why I respected him so much-to this day. I am so grateful that I had the chance to re-connect a few years ago. He was still the same person I had learned to trust and respect 55 years earlier. I will cherish and keep forever a letter he wrote to me just a few years ago- in long hand of course-no internet for him!!! And in perfect penmanship-as expected. Please accept my deepest sympathies on George's passing and know that I have thought of him so many times during my life-always with a smile.
God Bless, ike Bowman

Our prayers go out to Ray and his Mother on the passing of George. I knew him from from being a student at Harrison in the 50's and also from church, I can honestly say you were the best teacher I ever had. We had alot of fun with you playing basketball at the school on 4th street. If this world today would have teachers like Mr Deiter, the world would be a better place, and kids would have more respect for their parents and the world around them. Sir, you were the best and a privledge to have you as a teacher, till we meet again

Mr Deiter was my teacher at Harrison and Mrs. Deiter too at LHS...and I attended school with Ray, their son. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I send my prayers to the family. Please know what a positive impact Mr. Deiter (and Mrs. Deiter) had on my life. I am very grateful for the years they taught in Lebanon.
