Jean A. Klick
LEBANON
Jean A. Klick passed away quietly at his home on Tuesday, December 22, 2015.
Born in Indiana on March 11, 1925, he was one of four children born to the Rev. George E. Klick and Ruth E. (Drager) Klick.
At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Army, and served his country as a member of the 17th Airborne Division. After the war he married Miriam Leiss, to whom he was married to for 59 years. He was a carpenter by trade and built the house in which he and his beloved wife raised their family.
A lifelong member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lebanon, he was involved with the Boy Scouts of America for over 50 years, spending much of that time guiding the boys of Salem's Troop 12. He was a founding board member of The Friends of Camp Bashore, contributing countless time and effort to save, improve and grow the Camp.
Preceded in death by his wife, Miriam, and a brother and sister, Jean is survived by a brother, the Rev. Jay Klick; his son, Alan, husband of Cathy Klick; his daughter, Suzanne, wife of John Bates; grandchildren, Tracey Schafer, Meghan Thomas, and Andrew Klick; as well as great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A military memorial service will be held Saturday January 2, at 9:30 a.m. at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at Salem Lutheran Church at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society; or to The Friends of Camp Bashore P.O. Box 985, Lebanon, PA 17042.
