Jean Shellenhamer

Jean Shellenhamer passed away at the age of 91 on January 9th, 2021, in Anacortes, Washington, where she lived for the last 6 ½ years. She was preceded in death by her husband John Shellenhamer.

She grew up in Hershey PA. She moved to Palmyra when married and spend much of her adult life there prior to moving to Anacortes, WA.

Jean was known for her spirited, outgoing personality and sense of humor. She enjoyed shopping, dancing, swimming, reading and her pets. In her early life she enjoyed writing poems and stories.

Before retiring she and her husband had an accounting business where she worked preparing taxes and did tax related work. She continued to work part time for Parks and Co. until the age of 70 because she liked interacting with the clients.

She is survived by her daughter Deborah Francis, step-sons John Shellenhamer Jr, Ralph Shellenhamer, 6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

A virtual memorial service will be held to celebrate her life in the near future through Whidbey Memorial, Oak Harbor, WA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Foundation.

Dear Deborah, So sorry for your loss. I know your mother since 1969 when she first did my taxes. Then she started coming to the beauty salon where I worked. I always enjoyed our friendship. She was very proud of you. Take care. Ellie
