Joseph N. Uhler, Jr. LANCASTER Joseph Nathan Uhler, Jr., 94, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Mennonite Home. Born in King of Prussia, on March 13, 1919, he was the son of the late Joseph Nathan Uhler, Sr. and Matilda Kathryn Koenig Uhler. He and his wife, Mildred June Stoner Uhler, celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in April 2013. He had an older sister Leah Estelle, born July 6, 1915, and a younger brother, Jack Koenig, born March 27, 1920. Leah married Thomas Sullivan and they had four children, Patrick, John, Karen, and Daniel. Joseph married Mildred June Stoner on April 25, 1943 at Salem Lutheran Church in Lebanon. He had three children, Joseph Nathan Uhler III, born July 9th, 1944 in Rockville, Maryland; William Eden Uhler, born July 23, 1947 in Lebanon; and Kathryn Leah Uhler, born August 6, 1952 in Annville. His brother Jack married Georgia Gobels in 1942, and passed away in September 1952. His sister Leah passed away in 1999. Joseph, his parents and siblings moved to Lebanon, when he was three years old. He was baptized in 1921 and was confirmed in 1935 at Salem Lutheran Church. Joseph graduated at the age of sixteen from Lebanon High School with the class of 1936. He worked at the Lebanon Paper Box Company until the start of WWII, where he worked in the graphic arts until he was called to the Army Map Service on McArthur Blvd. in Washington, DC. It was there that he acquired the love of graphic arts and decided to make it his career. Following his tour with the Army Map Service, Joseph, his wife and son Joe, moved back to Pennsylvania. They became members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Annville where he founded and was CEO of the Lebanon Valley Offset Company. They moved to Annville from Tenth Street in Lebanon with their new addition Willy, to High Street. Later they moved across the street from the printing plant on Queen Street where Katie was born. They continued to worship at St. Paul's and their children were baptized and confirmed within its ivy-covered walls. Meanwhile Joseph was extremely happy in his chosen profession. The company grew and was very successful as their employees grew from 6 to 250. Joseph retired in June 1981 and he and Millie left their beloved Mt. Gretna and moved to sunny Arizona, where he thrived in church work, golf and leisure. They returned to Lancaster on September 11, 2001. He was the proud grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of six. Joe III, who married Victoria Elizabeth Mellin on July 8, 1967, has two children. Melin McKenna, who married David Lindsay has three children: David Joseph, McKenna Victoria and Charles William. Christopher married Dana Vitorio on July 6, 2002 and they had two children, Collin Governor and McKaylea Estele. Upon Dana's death in 2010 Christopher later married Camilla Nichols and welcomed her daughter Linnea and son Kai into the family. Bill married Dianne Maria Romani on July 1, 1972 and they have two children. Franz Josef, who is the father of Chase Nathanial Uhler and Lauren Fransiska who married Jeffrey Ramone Rios on September 16, 2011. They have an 11 month old son Sebastian Owen. Kathryn, who is now called Katie married David Frederick Shutler on August 28, 1976 and has three sons: Nathan Dickinson, Nolan Philip and Neale Allen. Nolan married Thuy Nuyen in June 2012. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joseph's Life Celebration Memorial Service at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Lititz Pike & Delp Rd., Lancaster on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Craig A. Ross officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
