Louise E. Kahlbaugh, most recently of Van Rensselaer Manor, died peacefully on September 10, 2016. She was born February 10, 1927 in Cornwall the daughter of the late Lester and Matilda Yorty. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 59 years, Reverend George Kahlbaugh; and a brother, George Yorty. She is survived by four children, Nancy Neal Gorski (Daniel) of Clifton Park N.Y., David Kahlbaugh (Cindy) of Delmar, N.Y., Susan Kahlbaugh (Jon Giannetti) of Mass., Patricia Kahlbaugh (Bill Kreider) of Branford, Conn.; and her adored grandchildren, Joshua and Orin Neal (fiancée Shelby Pinney), Trevor and Ryan Kahlbaugh, Marta and Abramo Giannetti, Melissa and Matilda Kreider; and her great-granddaughter, Clara Neal. She is survived by her dear sister, Nancy McDevitt and brother, Donald Yorty of Cornwall; and many nieces and nephews. Louise graduated with a secretarial degree from Lebanon Business College and went on to work as a secretary for the steel workers union. She served by her husband's side in his ministry at several parishes and at Beaver Cross, an Episcopal summer camp in Cooperstown, NY. She worked as the secretary to the Dean of the Cathedral of All Saints in Albany, N.Y. Louise had a beautiful singing voice and was a member of the Capital Hill Choral Society. She will be remembered for her kind and generous nature, her wonderful laugh, and her love and dedication to God, family and friends. She loved playing cards, tennis, puzzles, music, travel and ice cream! Although she struggled with Alzheimer's disease for 16 years, she maintained her kind and playful attitude toward others. She will be loved and missed forever.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at the Cathedral of All Saints on November 26, 2016 at 1 p.m. Calling hours will precede the service beginning at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family thanks the staff at Van Rensselaer Manor for their kindness and care.
