Robert L. Wetzel, Jr., 60, died Monday, October 23, 2017 at his residence following a heroic battle with lung cancer.
He was the husband of Mary V. "Gini" (Brightbill) Wetzel, to whom he was married 12 years on August 20th.
Born in West Reading on August 11, 1957, he was the son of the late Robert L., Sr. and Jane L. (Hoffert) Wetzel.
A 1975 graduate of ELCO High School, Bob was employed at the Bayer Corp., Myerstown, for 28 years. He previously worked at Layser's Flowers, Myerstown, for 17 years.
Bob was a member of the Marion Rod & Gun Club and the NRA. He loved his family and dogs for which he had boundless love. Bob enjoyed cars, especially Mopar; motorcycles, WWF, martial arts, puttering around the farm on his tractor, and collecting various items including wind chimes, tractors, and guns. He was a jack of all trades and well known for his unique sense of humor.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by daughters, Vanessa, wife of Braden Bicher, of York; Aimee (Marshall), wife of Scott Manbeck, of Stouchsburg; sons, Clint, husband of Kim Wetzel, of Lititz; Jourdan, husband of Angela Marshall, of Vashon, WA; eight grandchildren; sisters, Cindy, wife of Chester Michael, Jr., of Fredericksburg; Julie, wife of Ray Hepner, of Hamburg; a brother, Curt, husband of Bev Wetzel, of Wrightsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Wayne Wetzel.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 3 p.m. at Grose Funeral Home, 358 W. Washington Ave., Myerstown, with a visitation beginning at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bob's memory to any animal welfare related cause.
