Alfred Flick Obituary

Pastor Alfred Drew Flick "Pastor Fred," 73, died late Sunday night, April 8, 2018, at St. Bernard's Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.

He was the son of Elmer Elsworth and Beulah Irene (Koch) Flick.

Mr. Flick served in the U.S. Army for approximately 10 1/2 years. He was a Staff Sargeant (E6) and Airborne Ranger. After serving four tours in Vietnam, he received the following decorations: Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Air Medal and a Presidential Unit Citation.

He married the love of his life, Shirley Wyman. They were married for 26 years. She survives.

In 2003, he became a licensed minister in the Church of God (Jerusalem Acres-Cleveland, Tenn.) with the degree of Elder and was appointed as one of the 72 Prophets in the church. In May 2010, he was appointed as the pastor of the Church of God located in Jonesboro, Ark. were he served until his death.

In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Kevin (and Mindy) of Dry Ridge, Ky.; four step-children, Lori (and Scott) Ortz of Parker, Ron (and Claire) Strauser of Geneva, Ohio, Bonnie (and Rob) Anthony of Shippenville, and Jeffrey (and Jennifer) Strauser of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren, Alli, Aaron and Adam Flick, Kala (and Derrick) Wilkins, Toby Best, Titus Ortz, Caleb, Kevin and Kate Strauser, Reed, Ryan and Noel Anthony, Tyler (and Christina), Cameron and Abbie Strauser, Samantha and Cody Kindel, and Zach Strauser; great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Gideon and Hadassah Wilkins, Olivia and Isaac Best, Bentley Strauser, Tommy and Elizabeth Kindle, and Emma Strauser; and two brothers, Arthur and Ray.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Leslie, Roger, Gordon and Junior.

A celebration of life service was held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2018, with the Bishop David Kramer officiating and presiding Bishop Lavell Craig delivering the sermon.

Another celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Church of God in Sligo.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org) or to The Church of God, 922 N. Main Street, Jonesboro, AR 72401.
