Dennis Lee Morgan, 80, of Mayport, went home to be with Jesus on Friday morning, September 26, 2025.
Born August 5, 1945, in New Kensington, Westmoreland County, he was the son of the late Orville and Virginia (Wall) Morgan.
Denny served his country with the U.S. Navy during Vietnam from June 21, 1966 to April 1, 1970. He served on the USS Ranger CV-61 as an Aerographer's Mate (weatherman).
He worked for Redbank Township, Armstrong County, Elger and Krouse's Auto Parts, and was a teacher for the Redbank Valley Elementary School where he taught history for 30 years.
Denny was known for his beautiful bass voice. He sang with the Burford Quartet for many years and always supported his wife, Cindy, with her choir and musical performances.
Denny had many talents and loves. One was photography, of which his historical notecards were loved by all.
He founded the Historical Society for the Valley, with his beloved wife, Cindy. His photos were used in the book they published entitled A Pictorial History of the Redbank Valley.
He had a great love of Bonsai trees and even did workshops on how to grow them. He traveled to many Bonsai conferences all over the U.S. and abroad.
Denny could be seen photographing trains while standing on the railway platform as they whistled by.
Denny was known as a great prayer warrior. He started the pastor's prayer group at Oakland Church of God.
Out of all of his accomplishments and hobbies, his most treasured was his family, in which he instilled the love and service of God.
Denny married Lucinda Carol "Cindy" (Traister) Morgan on June 19, 1971. She survives.
He is also survived by two children, Ginger Covert and her husband, Mark, of Butler and Justin Morgan and his wife, Tracy, of New Bethlehem; four grandchildren, Corra Morgan, Bryce Morgan, Gina Rhoades and Justace Morgan; and two brothers, Darrell Morgan and his wife, Ginger, of New Kensington and Denzel Morgan and his wife, Kathy, of Conway, S.C.
