Dianne Lynn Bachman

1947 - 2015

Dianne Lynn Bachman, 68, of Chapel Hill, N.C., formerly of New Bethlehem, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 6, 2015.
Born March 12, 1947, in New Bethlehem, she was the daughter of Carolyn and Russell Bachman.
Mrs. Bachman graduated from Redbank Valley High School in 1965.
She married Jim Baumhover.
As a licensed architect, Mrs. Bachman was the director of Construction Services for UNC-Chapel Hill, where she was first employed in 1997.
She held memberships in the American Institute of Architects, the National Council for Interior Design Qualification, the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
Mrs. Bachman was an active member and former chair of Chapel Hill's Appearance and Design Commission.
She was most devoted to her family.
Mrs. Bachman traveled often, including annual vacations to the coast with her daughter.
She and her husband renovated and re-designed her parent's 1921 arts and crafts home in Tryon, N.C.
Mrs. Bachman spent several years in the western United States, living in Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, California, Hawaii and then Florida before settling in North Carolina in 1989.
During her adult life, she worked in management in historical resorts in Yosemite and Grand Teton National Parks.
A lover of history and stories by local authors, she was an avid reader and strongly believed in supporting local merchants as well as writers.
In addition to her husband, survivors include a daughter, Brette Adrienne Bachman Baumhover of Hillsborough; a son, Ryan James Bachman Baumhover of Portland, Ore.; and a sister, Rochelle Blake of New Bethlehem.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, in the Botanical Gardens at UNC-Chapel Hill.
