John Sigworth Obituary

John L. Sigworth, 89, of Fairmount City, passed away on Tuesday evening, December 10, 2024, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.

Born December 5, 1935, in New Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Orell Harris and Martha Caroline (Pence) Sigworth.

He married Margaret Elaine (Horne) Sigworth on December 28, 1958. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2016.

John worked as an equipment operator for the Union Local No. 66, B&R Welding and numerous other jobs.

He was a member of the First Church of God in New Bethlehem, F&AM No. 522 in New Bethlehem, the Clarion American Legion Post No. 66, the New Bethlehem Moose and the New Bethlehem VFW.

Survivors include two children, David J. Sigworth and his wife, Teri, of Milton, Del. and Gina George and her husband, Ed, of New Bethlehem; four grandchildren, Christine Smith (Kenny), D.J. Sigworth, Brittany Booker (Kevin) and Michael George; four great-grandchildren, Rowan, Indi, Macy and Graham; a sister, Sarah Jane Mathis of Huntsville, Ala.; three brothers, Robert M. Sigworth (Janet) of Ijamsville, Md., Clifton G. Sigworth (Verna) of East Brady and William Sigworth (Debra) of North Freedom; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Margaret, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Alan George; and a brother-in-law, Monte Mathis.

At John's request, there will be no viewing or funeral service.

Interment will take place in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Mahoning Township, Armstrong County.
