Mr. Ronald J. Dean

1938 - 2016

Ronald J. Dean, 77, of New Bethlehem, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at his winter home in St. James City, Fla.

Born August 28, 1938, he was the son of Judson and Mildred Dean.

He married Sandra McAninch on September 4, 1959. She survives.

Mr. Dean worked in the coal business, then as a farmer, eventually dividing his time by spending the warm months in Pennsylvania and the cold months in Florida. He enjoyed fishing for grouper out in the Gulf of Mexico, gardening, visiting with neighbors, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his four children, Pamela Dean of Sligo, Scott Dean and his wife, Katie, of Hawthorn, Valerie Boyles and her husband, Ken, of Rimersburg, and Carl Dean of New Bethlehem; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Rankin of New Bethlehem, Tyler Rankin of Sligo, Caitlin Rankin of St. Louis, Mo., Hollie (Aaron) Hill of St. Petersburg, Fla., Jarrid Dean of Hawthorn, Samantha Dean of Hawthorn, Amber (Matt) Bliss of Robstown, Texas, Nikki (Jon) O'Neil of Rimersburg, and Bryant Dean of New Bethlehem; two great-grandchildren, Xander and Braydon Dean of Hawthorn; three sisters, Madeline Cornman, Carol Foringer, and Janet Bullers; and three brothers, Jerry (Judy) Dean, Richard (L.C.) Dean, and Larry Dean.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Dean; two brothers-in-law, Hilton Nolf and Donald Foringer; a sister-in-law, Karen Dean; and two nephews, Robbie Blair and Jason Dean.

Funeral services will be private.

Arrangements are at the direction of the of Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.

Interment will be in the Hawthorn Cemetery.
