Lake Mills, WI - It is with deep sadness to announce Jim passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023. Devoted husband and best friend to Mary E Slattery, who preceded him in passing last September. He will be remembered as an adoring dad of Katie (Jake) Lowell and a loving "Bubba" of Lana Lowell. His unconditional love and care for his family defined him as a father. He held a special place in the hearts of his nieces, Jennifer (Randy) Stell and Kristin (Cobe) Short and their children. And a dear brother-in-law of Barbara (Bob) Pagel, George (Toni) Gauger, Carol Gauger, Jim (Jane) Gauger, Tom (Kim) Gauger, and Katie (Dave) Hinners. His warm and kind-hearted nature was evident not only within his family but also among his friends and employees, who will miss him dearly.
Jim's smile and laughter were contagious. He had a generous spirit, always willing to give the shirt off his back without hesitation. This kindness extended beyond his role as a dedicated husband and loving father; it also encompassed his interactions with friends and employees. Jim possessed an exceptional ability to engage in meaningful conversations with anyone. His approach to life was characterized by his unwavering generosity and reliability. Above all, he loved unconditionally, pouring his entire heart into the relationships he cherished.
Jim was a determined and driven individual. It was evident that once he set his mind on a goal, there was no stopping him. He finished college with a degree in Manufacturing Engineering and was an engineer to the core. Combining practical experience and an entrepreneurial spirit, Jim embarked on a journey, establishing a business alongside the love of his life, Mary. Jim's personal approach, which included spending time with each and every employee daily, left an indelible mark on countless lives. Jim served as a mentor and friend to his right-hand man, Jason Buske, who he loved like a son.
It is impossible to overlook the deep love he held for his beloved wife, Mary. For many years, he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to care for her. Their bond extended beyond mere spouses, they were truly best friends for eternity. Jim's immense pride and joy revolved around "his girls" - his cherished daughter, Katie, and adored granddaughter, Lana. The twinkle in his eyes and the heartfelt words he shared with anyone who would listen were a testament to the immeasurable love he held for them. Family meant the most to him.
He consistently sought the best in all aspects of life. He loved spending time in Key West with his sweetheart, on the water, and "jamming out to tunes". His sense of humor was capable of bringing forth spontaneous laughter. A dog lover through and through. A smile that was truly one-of-a-kind and would warmly utter "love you kiddo" to many in his life. A true friend to many. His absence will be keenly felt by all of those whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and James Slattery; sister Colleen (Tom) Cain.
