Alice Delores Laufenberg, 92, of Osseo, surrounded by Love, completed her last earthly physical illness race on June 3, one day shy of celebrating her 73rd wedding anniversary. She is now back to speed walking and watching over her family from Heaven.
Born at home in Huron, WI on 1-24-1932 to Stephen and Lillian (Vajgrt) Quesnell. Alice worked hard on the home farm, attended school in Cornell until eighth grade, then moved with her parents to Stanley where she graduated and was a proficient cornet musician. An only child, Alice wanted a big family and career that involved being around children. She attended UWRF for elementary education until she met the love of her life, Harold Laufenberg. They were married June 4, 1951, and moved to Osseo in 1959.
Alice's lifetime with Harry was dedicated to children, nurturing and following their five children's activities.
In 1969 she began working at Osseo Schools as a junior high librarian, lunchroom "supervisor" and monthly Outlook publisher. She and Harry retired in 1989 from the Osseo-Fairchild School District.
They watched their family grow with grandchildren and enjoyed many years golfing, fishing, thrifting and playing slots. Love of children and education continued in retirement. They volunteered for 15 years in granddaughter Samantha's 4K classroom, becoming grandma and grandpa to hundreds. They loved following and supporting their grandkids' and greats' sports, music and school activities, and hosting family Christmas Eve and Father's Day cookouts.
Alice was a strong, God loving wife, mother, and grandmother who leaves a beautiful legacy to her entire family.
Survived in love by husband, Harry; children and families: Greg (Lois) Laufenberg, Don Laufenberg, Jackie (Rick) Tiller, Steve (Therese) Laufenberg, Patty (Jack) Fulford; special daughter Maria Chibli; 15 grandchildren; 26 great- and four great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and many friends.
Welcomed in Heaven by her parents and in-laws, Kim and Amos Laufenberg.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 28 from 4-7 p.m. at Eleva Lutheran Church, Eleva, WI. Memorial services presided by Pastor Karen Ressel will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. at the church.
