Arvid Faldet
January 24, 1944 - October 8, 2025
Arvid Faldet, age 81, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on October 8, 2025, surrounded by family.
Arvid was born on January 24, 1944, at Black River Falls Memorial Hospital to Morris and Alida Faldet. He grew up on a dairy farm in rural Hixton and graduated from Black River Falls High School in 1962. He went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire, where he majored in Accounting and Economics. During his college years, he was hired by Bertelson Company in the bookkeeping department, beginning what would become a 35-year career. Arvid became a partner in the company and enjoyed seeing its growth and success over the decades.
On September 4, 1965, Arvid married his high school sweetheart and true love, Dianne (Larson) Faldet. This year, they celebrated 60 years of life, love, and memories together.
Arvid was a man of the outdoors. A passionate hunter, he took memorable trips to Alaska, Labrador, British Columbia, and New Mexico-returning with stories and trophies, even a grizzly bear. In retirement, he and Dianne traveled the world, visiting places like Hawaii, the Netherlands, China, Norway, and three trips to Grand Cayman. Closer to home, their cabin on Lake Namakagon was a treasured family gathering place, where Arvid enjoyed fishing, boating, and peaceful moments by the lake.
Arvid had a heart as big as his personality. Known for his teasing sense of humor he was both a jokester and a rock for his family. He was affectionately known as "the big guy" to many, and "little g" to his grandchildren. His loyalty and devotion extended to his family and friends. Even his pets were extremely loved. His 172 pound black lab Max, who thought he was a lap dog, is a prime example!
He is survived by his beloved wife, Dianne; their children Stephanie Vierbicher, Allison (Brock) Fisher, and Dan Faldet; grandchildren Dana Vierbicher (special friend, Joey Hall), Dani (Brett) Anibas, Andrew Vierbicher (special friend, Abby Wallar, Nicole Vierbicher, Luke Fisher, and Lydia Fisher. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Alida Faldet; his in-laws, Tom and Bernice Larson; his brother James Faldet; his sister Cynthia and her husband Ilett Gilbertson; his brother-in-law Bruce Larson; and his son-in-law Charles Vierbicher.
Arvid's legacy is one of humor, strength, generosity, and love. His presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those whose lives he touched. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the supportive services that made it possible for him to remain at home. A special thank you to Mayo Clinic Health Systems, St. Croix Hospice, Home Companion, and Cornerstone Caregiving for their compassionate care and dedication.
