Connor Evans, 80, of Eau Claire, passed away at his home after a very long and brave battle with Myeloid Leukemia. He was with Jan, his wife of 56 years and his 'best bud', Barnee the Cocker Spaniel.
Connor was born in Bound Brook, New Jersey to the late Roy and Jean (Connor) Evans. The family later moved to Wausau, where Connor graduated from Wausau East High School.
He spent summers at the family compound in Laona, Wisconsin with his many friends and relatives from Connor Lumber and Land Co.
Connor served in the Army and was stationed in Viet Nam. Upon his return, he met his wife, Jan. They were married in 1968 and moved to Eau Claire. Connor graduated from UWEC with a bachelor's degree in business and marketing. His exposure to the pesticide, Agent Orange, was a contributing factor in his death. If you meet a veteran, please thank them for their service.
He is survived by his wife Jan (Poverski); his siblings Chris (Heidi) Evans, Jeff Evans, Polly Venske and Jennifer Evans and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul.
Connor was a plumber by trade. He started Water Street Plumbing in the 1970's. He sold the plumbing business and operated Surface Designs in Eau Claire for many years. They traveled a lot in the early years of their marriage, but in recent years they were happy living in their home on Lowes Creek and enjoying the scenery that went along with it. Connor loved working in the garden and taking care of the property.
Jan would like to extend her gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Mayo Clinic in Eau Claire and the Mayo Clinic Hospice staff in Connor's final days. They took great care of Connor and anyone who stopped by to visit.
There will be no service.
