David Bredael
November 23, 1969 - September 2, 2025
David Mark Bredael passed away unexpectedly September 2, 2025, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin at 55 years of age.
David was born November 23, 1969, in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Mark and Lana Bredael. While growing up in Cooperstown, he shared many adventures with his siblings, Susan, Linda, and John.
David's life was rich with an abundance of passions. He embraced opportunities to learn new things which became things he loved all his life – fishing, cooking, sports, music, racing, cards, books, birds, photography, auto-detailing, and the Green Bay Packers. These interests brought him happiness and led to connections with others along the way. With his humor and quick wit, David could strike up a conversation with anyone, always finding common ground and filling those around him with laughter. It was easy to see his gift for being a friend to all throughout his life.
After graduating from Denmark High School in 1988, David enrolled at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire and studied journalism. One of his proudest achievements was getting his bachelor's degree, going back in 2012 to earn it, as he promised his parents he would. This milestone meant the world to him.
David's greatest career calling was broadcast journalism, specifically radio. As Sports Director at WAXX and WAYY, he interviewed notable figures including Hank Aaron, Bob Uecker and his all-time favorite, the legendary Bart Starr.
Later on, David's talents and his love of auto detailing led him to start his own business, Dave's Detailing. The family golden doodle Sherman was David's buddy, always by his side during those years detailing cars in the home garage.
David was a proud father to Josh and a devoted stepdad to Ben from the time Ben was five. The boys were the absolute two loves of his life. From family road trips to Florida to college visits in Arizona their times together were priceless. As the boys grew older, they enjoyed biking, fishing, the gun range, disc golf, pool, and darts.
David cherished time in the Northwoods of Wisconsin where he spent countless hours fishing his favorite lakes & rivers, year-round. He loved the morning "bite" and often noted that the bite was over once "he saw the sun coming up over the treetops".
David – you were so full of goodness. You loved and we loved you. We will look for you in moments to come. You will let us know that you are still here, in our hearts and all around us forever.
He is survived by his son, Josh Bredael; stepson, Ben Mueller; mother, Lana Bredael; two sisters, Sue (Don) Schuh and Linda (Jeff) Mason; brother, John (Annie) Bredael; Nieces and nephews Katie Schuh, Alex Schuh, Abbey Machtig and Clae Rountree.
