David Cramer Obituary

David Cramer

October 25, 1951 - July 2, 2025

David D. Cramer, 73, of Eau Claire, WI passed away peacefully on Wednesday July 2nd, 2025.

Born on October 25th, 1951, in Eau Claire, to Morris and Erma (Tompkins) Cramer, David remained a lifelong resident of the Eau Claire community. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire with a bachelor's degree in sociology and went on to dedicate more than thirty years to public service with the Eau Claire Police Department. He began his career in 1972 and retired in 2004. While working at the police department, he was union president for several years. Following retirement, David continued to work in safety and security positions with agencies and businesses across the state.

David had a lifelong passion for fishing and made annual trips to Canada to enjoy the outdoors. He was a member of the Altoona Kiwanis, and the Masonic Temple in Eau Claire. Known for his quick wit and dry sense of humor, David was someone who could always be counted on for a clever remark and a helping hand. He loved music, sports, and- above all- caring for others.

Sports were an important part of David's life from a young age. He played Little League and Babe Ruth baseball in his youth and continued with baseball, basketball and track at Eau Claire Memorial High School. As an adult, he remained active though YMCA basketball, racquetball, and softball. He also found joy in coaching his daughters' youth softball teams and sharing his love of the game and creating lasting memories along the way.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia; his daughters, Jaime (Cory) Ross and Kelly Cramer; and his six cherished grandchildren: Halle, Braedyn, Tessa, Brielle, Noah and Gianna. He is also survived by his brother Roger Cramer and his wife Terri, sister-in-law Cheryl Cramer, and Aunts and Uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Bonnie Warren and her husband Glenn Warren, and his brother Ronald Cramer.

A visitation will be held on Sunday July 13th, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Stokes, Prock, and Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy in Altoona. The funeral service will take place on Monday July 14th, 2025, at Saving Grace Lutheran Church, 3735 Jeffers Rd, Eau Claire at 11:00am with an additional visitation beginning at 10:00am.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Eau Claire paramedics, the fire department, the Eau Claire County Sheriff's Department, and the medical staff at Mayo Hospital for their compassionate care and support.

David will be remembered for his humor, quick wit, and caring heart- a man who always put others before himself and lived his life in service and kindness.
