Frederick Krause Obituary

Fred Krause, born on October 27, 1950, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2025, at the age of 74. To his many friends and family Fred leaves behind a unique legacy of independence, opinions, laughter and unwavering support for all who knew him.

Fred was born and raised in Eau Claire, where over his lifetime he developed a passion for the outdoors, hunting, trap shooting and his talented field trial dogs. After graduating with an MS degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison he pursued a career with Northern States Power initially with the proposed Tyrone nuclear power project and, when that did not develop, he went on to work with the power dam facilities in northwestern Wisconsin.

Fred had a character that was filled with warmth and laughter and stubbornness. His love for storytelling and his infectious sense of humor could light up any room.

He is survived by his brother and sister and nine nieces and nephews. Fred remained single because he suggested that no woman could put up with him for any length of time. His many friends and their support suggest the depth of the many connections he had in his life.

A celebration of life will be held for Fred on Saturday, May 24, at the Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. A family inurnment service will be held the next day at the family cemetery site in Pierce County.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Chippewa Valley Retriever Club c/o Mark Ekeroth 10250 60th Street Lane, North Stillwater, Minnesota 55082 or the Youth Program at the Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club at 801 Schoettl Ave in Eau Claire 54703.

Fred will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all of us.

Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services, Eau Claire is assisting the family.
