Galen Charles Radle, age 95, of
Arkansaw, WI, died February 16, 2026 in Birchwood, WI where he resided for the past 5 yrs.
Born August 8, 1930 in Arkansaw to George and Mathilda (Bauer) Radle, Galen attended Little Arkansaw Grade School, a one-room schoolhouse and graduated Valedictorian of Arkansaw High School Class of 1948.
While attending Minneapolis School of Business, he was drafted and served in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953 during the Korean Conflict, including service in Germany. After his honorable discharge, Galen began a 44 year career with Security National Bank in Durand serving as Cashier, Loan Officer, and Sr. Vice President until retiring in 1997. In 1979, he received his master's degree from The School of Banking at the University of WI-Madison.
On Sept. 11, 1956 he married Bernadine Weissinger in Lima, WI then resided in Arkansaw to raise their family.
Galen was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Arkansaw; where he served as lector, choir member, and Eucharistic minister. He was a member and Financial Secretary of the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus Council #2422, and Scrip and Comptroller of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Pope John XXIII Assembly. He also was Post Commander for Durand American Legion Post #181; Director and Treasurer of Pepin County Museum and Historical Society; President of the All School Reunions and Pepin County Council of Seniors; Treasurer and Negotiator for the School District of Arkansaw and Durand Board of Education; President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer of NABAC (National Association of Bank Auditors and Comptroller); Chairman of Pepin County Heart Fund and Red Cross; Treasurer of Plum City Bowling League and Pepin County United Fund.
He was also active with the WIAA (Wisconsin Indianhead Athletic Association) as a basketball, baseball, and softball official; 4-H Leader and Auction Clerk; member of Arkansaw Fur, Fish and Game; the Salvation Army; Rod and Gun Club as cashier for Jack Harmon Chicken Dinners; and awarded Honorable Alumni of the Arkansaw FFA; Grand Marshall for local parades; Pepin County Farm Management Club Outstanding Businessman Award, WI Association of School Boards, and Durand Knights of Columbus Knight of the Month.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, traveling, singing, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors are his children, Byron (Sheryl) Radle of Lakeville, MN; Lisa (Terence) Quinn of Lake Elmo, MN; Deanna (George) Zuniga of Brooklyn Park, MN; Dean (Lana) Radle of Arcadia, CA; Sheila Benning of Apple Valley, MN; Karen (James) Pohl of Waldo, WI; 16 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren; brother Harvey Radle of
Eau Claire, WI; and sister Lucille (Roy) Valitchka of Appleton, WI; sisters-in-law Maureen Radle of Neenah, WI and Cleo Gibson of
Eau Claire, WI; and brother-in-law Allen (Karen) Weissinger of
Eau Claire, WI.
Preceded in death by parents George and Mathilda; loving wife of 58 yrs., Bernadine; Grandson John Matthew Quinn; brother Norbert Radle; sister and brothers-in-law Evelyn and Gene Weiss, and Arlene and Robert Pittman; brothers-in-law Gerald Weissinger and Darrell Gibson Sr.; sister-in-law Blanche Radle; sister-and brother-in law Jane and Ronald Hartung Sr.; and mother-and father-in-law Clara and Fred Weissinger.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 12pm, Saturday, March 7, 2026 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in
Arkansaw, WI with Fr. JoJo officiating. Visitation from 4-7pm on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Rhiel Funeral Home in
Durand, WI, and Saturday, at St. Joseph's Catholic from 11am-12pm before Mass. Burial in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by Durand American Legion Post #181 following Mass.
