Jake Wagner
June 30, 1989 - July 19, 2025
Jake Wagner, 36, of Durand, formerly of Augusta, passed away Saturday evening, July 19, 2025, from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle accident in Springbrook Township, Dunn County. Born June 30, 1989, in Eau Claire to Dale and Judith Hovde Wagner, Jake lost his father at 14 months old. The family later moved to Augusta in 1999 and graduated from Augusta High School in 2007. He then attended Vermillion College in Ely, Minnesota, before enlisting in the Army National Guard. He served overseas for over a year, including eight months in Iraq, and earned several medals. After his honorable discharge, Jake returned to Eau Claire and joined PDM Bridge (now Veritas Steel), rising to supervisor in the paint department.
Jake was a proud, driven man with a deep sense of honor. He had a lifelong love of deer hunting, firearms, and history, often watching documentaries. He found peace driving back roads in his Jeep with the music turned up and enjoyed raising German Shepherds. Above all, he valued family and friendships, and will be remembered for his loyalty, strength, and genuine care for others.
He is survived by his beloved mother, Judy Lone and stepfather Glenn Lone, of Augusta; brothers, Josh Burgey of Rock Falls and Gene Wagner (Wendy Tubbs) of Eau Claire; sisters, Jamie Fleener (Shawn) of Eau Claire and Jessica Wagner (Bennie Samuelson) of Rock Falls; nieces and nephews, Clifford Wagner, Jordin Guntner, Savannah Fleener, and Sierra Fleener; several cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. A special companion Becky McCann of Durand, and her son, Landon Haddman, both of whom held a treasured place in his heart. Also his faithful canine friend Saxon.
Jake was preceded in death by his father, Dale Wagner on September 17, 1990; grandparents, Reuben and Ruth Wagner, and Lawrence and Arlene Hovde; and step-grandparents, Gordon and Arlys Lone.
