Janet A. Moots age 87, of Elmwood, died Sunday November 23, 2025, at her home in the Township of Eau Galle, rural Elmwood surrounded by her family.

Janet was born March 27, 1938, on her family's farm in the Baldwin area. She was the daughter of Arnold and Nettie (Iverson) Lorentsen. Janet graduated from Baldwin High School in 1956.

After high school, Janet lived in St. Paul and worked at Minnesota Mutual, as a secretary for nine years. Janet married David Moots February 27, 1965, at Woodside Lutheran Church in Baldwin. After marriage they resided in Rock Elm for a short time before moving to the Moots family farm where they farmed and raised their family.

Janet was an active and devoted mother. While her children were young, she was a leader of Morton Hill Skyliners 4-H club and helped her children with MANY projects. She also was a member of the Morton Hill Homemakers and the Ladies Aid at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. She worked alongside her husband on the family farm while nurturing and supporting her family.

Janet delighted in creating elaborate birthday cakes for her family and lovingly passed down her love of flowers as well as many cherished Norwegian dishes to her children.

She was happiest when she was surrounded by her family.

Janet is survived by her husband Dave, three daughters, Christine (William) Freitag of Mankato, MN; Lorelei (Mike) Horgan of Stevens Point, Traci (Peter) Torseth of Stillwater, MN; six grandchildren, David (Kaitlin), Emily, Ally & Maya; Autumn & Isaac; two sisters, Loretta Isaacson of Pocatello, ID and Margaret Blum of Roberts, WI; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday December 2, 2025, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Elmwood with Rev. Kenley Mann officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of the services at the Church on Tuesday. Burial to be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice staff for the care Janet received during her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
