John Kaehler Obituary

John Kaehler

August 14, 1954 - April 20, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of John Paul Kaehler of New Brighton, MN, on April 20, 2025 at the age of 70.

John was born and raised in Eau Claire, WI, where he excelled in both academics and athletics. John pursued higher education with passion, earning his BS and MS degrees from the University of Minnesota. He worked for the MN Department of Health where he met Dawn. The two married on 1989 and built their life together. He dedicated his professional life to the MN Pollution Control Agency as a Hydrologist, where he worked for many years before retiring in 2015. John's life was enriched by his love for his family and friends. Beyond his family, he found immense joy in the great outdoors. A skilled hunter and angler, he had a particular passion for pheasant hunting and fly fishing, which was a source of relaxation and connection to nature. John is preceded in death by his parents Ed and Char Kaehler. He is survived by his wife Dawn; daughter Carly (Matt) Baade; his adored granddaughter Eloise; brothers Bill, Mark, Dennis; sisters Becky and Kari. A celebration of life is planned for August 2nd from 2-5pm at the Forgotten Star Brewery (38 Northern Stacks Dr., Minneapolis, MN 55421). His family invites all who knew John to join in honoring his memory and sharing in the stories of a life well lived. In lieh of flowers, consider a donation to Pheasants Forever in John's name. https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.pheasantsforever.org.
