Ken was called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at 2:07 a.m. on September 26 at Mayo Clinic Hospital Saint Mary's Campus.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary (Birmingham) Gauerke of Eau Claire, WI and their three children, Jeff (Mindy) Gauerke of St. Peters, MO, Carrie (Gauerke) Kralovetz of New Richmond, WI, and Jonathan (Maegan) Gauerke of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Seth, Sarah, and Jadon Gauerke, Ian and Logan Kralovetz, and Caelyn, Isaac, and Micah Gauerke; brother, Eugene (Donna) Gauerke of Rockford, IL; nieces, Jayne (Mike) Carter, Jill (Raul) Rodila, Vicki Pokrant; and nephews Brian (Stephanie) Gauerke and Mark (Jon) Pokrant.
Ken was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Pokrant; granddaughter, Rachel Kralovetz; and parents, Melvin and Eleanora (Jensen) Gauerke.
Ken was a career pastor serving six full-time and four interim churches in the Midwest. Ken loved his wife, three children, and nine grandchildren, and extended family very dearly. Ken was dedicated to his local community of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and enjoyed playing the acoustic guitar while singing and ministering to all age groups.
Ken will be remembered for his integrity, character, and sense of humor along with his love for food, desserts, grilling, and card games.
A visitation to honor Pastor Ken's life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 3036 Epiphany Ln., Eau Claire on Saturday, October 26, starting at 3 p.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 4 p.m. A meal will be served immediately after the service.
To honor Pastor Ken's memory and continue his legacy of giving, donations may be made to the family or to his cherished charities: Our Daily Bread (odb.org) and Hope Gospel Mission (hopegospelmission.org).
