Larry Fred Barr passed away peacefully on July 8 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire with his wife Sheila by his side.
He was born on October 20, 1945, to Fred and Bernyce Barr of Greenwood, WI. He graduated from Greenwood High School and then served in the Wisconsin Army Reserves.
After high school he worked for his father and mother at Barr Animals Foods outside of Greenwood.
He then began to create his visions in the entertainment industry. Beginning with "The Barr" at Rock Dam County Park in Willard, WI and ending with Extreme Thunder USA. There were many chapters in between: In 1969 with "The Barr" Eau Claire, WI, Fanny Hill Supper Club Inn and Dinner Theatre, Top of The Town Disco Lounge, She-nannigans, Papa Bears, Houligans, Fannies Supper Club and Motel, Shake Rattle and Roll Festival, Otter Creek Inn, Country Jam USA, Country Thunder USA and the architectural design of Extreme Thunder USA and Indian Horse Relay Racetrack.
Larry was preceded in death by his father and mother, Fred and Bernyce Barr; and his beloved "buddies," his dogs, which were many throughout his years. He is survived by his wife, Sheila of 44 years; brother, Tom (Betty) Barr; sister Patti (Steve) Denk; brother, Scott; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday July 28 from 1-4 p.m. at the Lilydale Event Center, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729. Please wear a t-shirt, hat, Etc. (if you still have one) from one of his bars, restaurants, festivals, or softball teams. There will be a lot of sharing of stories from those "good old days"!
