Larry E. Hellendrung, age 94, of Menomonie, WI passed away peacefully around family Saturday, November 25 at his home.
He was born July 22, 1929, in Menomonie, WI to Valentine and Helen (Rogers) Hellendrung. He grew up in the Menomonie area and graduated from Boyceville High School in 1947.
January 4, 1951, Larry joined the Air Force to be in the air police. While stationed out in Spokane, Washington he met Donna Mitton. They were married on December 8, 1952.
They had four children: Larry Jr., Donald, Ronald, and DeAnna.
Larry retried from Ralston Purina in 1998. Soon into retirement he moved back to Menomonie where he grew up. He enjoyed getting together with his siblings, working on his John Deere tractors, building doll houses, and having family gatherings at his home.
Larry is survived by his two children Donald (Georgia) Hellendrung of Edina, Minnesota and DeAnna (Brad) Trussell of Menomonie, WI. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; sister Marvel (Hellendrung) Brahmer, brother Roger (Kathleen) Hellendrung; and survived by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Valentine and Helen; wife Donna; his sons Ronald and Larry Jr.; his brother Kenneth; as well as his special dogs Toby, Monica, Boots, and Jordan.
Graveside services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 4 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN. A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2024.
