Marilyn Streif

1943 - 2024

Marilyn Jean (Miller) Streif, age 81, of Elk Mound, Wisconsin passed away on July 16, surrounded by her husband and all four of her children.

Marilyn was born to Anker and Velma Miller of Dallas, Wisconsin on February 5, 1943.

She graduated from Barron High School in 1961 and then went on to college at UW-Stout in Menomonie. Marilyn achieved degrees in home economics and English in 1965.

Her teaching career of nine years included the school districts of Webster, Spooner and Mondovi, Wisconsin. During a teacher's convention, Marilyn ran into John, whom she knew from high school 4-H. They married on April 7, 1973, and enjoyed 51 years of marriage together and had four children: Shawn, Justin, Colin and Sonja.

After Shawn was born, Marilyn went on to be an excellent stay-at-home mother. She re-entered the workforce after Sonja was in school. Marilyn took a job at the Altoona School District where she was the food service administrator for 14 years until her retirement in 2006.

Marilyn is survived by her husband John and all four of her children, Shawn (Nicole), Justin (fiancée Heather), Colin (Shawna) and Sonja. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Keegan, Sawyer, Sienna, Norah, Noah and Cloey; along with her cats, Cindy and Dottie, who were in constant battle as to who was the winner of cuddling on Marilyn's lap.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anker and Velma Miller; brother, Clint Miller; sister, Marge Richartz; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Miller.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 23 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with Pastor Joel Certa-Werner officiating. Burial will take place at Peace Lutheran Cemetery in Menomonie. There will be a visitation on Monday, July 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
