Mitchell Plombon Obituary

Mitchell Severyn Plombon, 34 of Eau Claire, passed away on Wednesday, August 7. Born on June 22, 1990, in Madison to David and Kerry (Klein) Plombon, Mitch grew up and attended Chippewa schools graduating from Chi High in 2008. He went onto UW LaCrosse and received a degree in business management.

Mitchell started his career as an entrepreneur as head chef and part ownership of the Green Grass Café in LaCrosse. Years later, Mitchell sold his interest in the restaurant and moved to the Eau Claire area.

He successfully passed the managerial program with Festival Foods and was promoted to produce manager of the Chippewa Falls store. Mitchell greatly respected the management team at his store and his coworkers, and in return management and customers appreciated him.

Mitchell was a dedicated fan of the North Carolina Tarheels, the Milwaukee Bucks, and in his youth All Star Wrestling…until his heart was broken when he learned it wasn't real. He loved the outdoors, years of fishing, and hunting bagging his first buck last year.

He was an excellent cook and created many recipes including Pancakes Plombon - beer being the unique ingredient.

From his teens on, he loved and babied his Cadillacs. Any opportunity Mitchell had to golf was taken. He started swinging at 18 months, and shared the love of the game with Grandpa Bill, who took his grandson golfing countless times at Whispering Pines golf course. And like Grandpa was one of the few to get a hole in one. He enjoyed several fun and successful seasons on his high school golf team, including State competition. He proudly sported his white-feet-golf-tan all season long.

Mitchell was a reliable and kind friend, and blessed with a community of long-term friendships and experiences he was grateful for. Among the members of his large extended family he was known as a kind, generous, easy-going man, with a huge heart and an infectious laugh. He was known to open his home to people in need, and his positive influence and impact on others is a tremendous source of comfort and pride.

He is survived by his mother, Kerry and stepfather, Nate Solie of Chippewa Falls; his sister, Elizabeth (Alex Devonald) Plombon of Fort Collins, CO; his maternal grandfather, Edwin Klein of Cottage Grove, MN; his maternal aunts and uncles, Kim (Mike) Larson of Cottage Grove, MN, Jeff (Suzanne) Klein of Phoenix, AZ, Jenny King of Daytona Beach, FL, and Julie (Randy) Jackson of Waukesha, WI, Scott Solie of Tomahawk and Renee (Mark) Simenson of Howard Lake, MN; his paternal grandmother, Betty Plombon of Stanley; his paternal aunt, Diana Fox of Hoschton, GA; and his paternal uncles, Richard (Doug Freelon) Plombon of San Francisco, CA and Dan (Erin) Plombon of Stanley. Mitch is further survived by his stepmother, Bonnie Plombon of Chippewa Falls and extended family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his Father, David; his paternal grandfather, William Plombon; his aunt, Kay Plombon; his maternal grandmother, Nancy Klein; and grandparents, Jennie and Jerry Solie.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14 at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley. The burial will take place in the Oakland Cemetery-Stanley. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 4-7 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
