Nichols "Nick" Rassbach
May 29, 1947 - November 8, 2025
Nichols Rassbach, 78, beloved husband, father, grandfather, respected Real Estate Broker and Appraiser, passed away on November 8. Nick was born on May 29, 1947, in Menomonie to parents, Gerald (Tib) and Marjorie (Nichols) Rassbach. Nick was a country boy through and through, and loved growing up on the home farm on the Rusk Prairie. He lived a life marked by hard work, integrity, and strong devotion to those he loved.
As a child, Nick attended a one-room schoolhouse before moving on to the new Cedar Falls Elementary School. He loved his Rusk Prairie friends and neighbors and enjoyed maintaining those relationships through the years. He and his sisters, Geraldine & Marilyn, were active members of 4-H. Through 4-H, he learned the importance of community, responsibility, and hard work-principles that would shape his life and career. He graduated as a proud member of the Menomonie High School Class of 1965 and was an honorary member of the Class of 1992. He enjoyed having fun, playing football and sprinting for the track team.
Following high school, Nick attended UW-Stout where he majored in Business. He enjoyed sharing the friendships & camaraderie of the Sig-Pi Fraternity. After completing his education at UW-Stout, Nick proudly served his country in the Army National Guard. His time in service further strengthened his sense of duty, discipline, and commitment to others-qualities that carried through every aspect of his life. He began a successful career in real estate, joining his father, Tib, at Rassbach Realty in the fall of 1969. Known for his integrity, vast knowledge, and dedication to his clients, he built a reputation as a trusted professional and a friend to many. His work helped countless generations of families with all of their real estate needs throughout the community he loved. He was extremely proud when his daughter, Jill, decided to follow in his footsteps and join the firm as a Business Partner in 2007. They have enjoyed working side by side ever since. Nick has also been blessed to work with other amazing coworkers through the years, most recently Sales Agent, Erik Davidson, and Office Manager, Bridgette Bliese. Even though Nick's vehicle won't be parked in front of the office any longer, the Rassbach Realty torch will still burn strongly!
On April 24, 1971, Nick married his highschool sweetheart, Mary Polasky. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and partnership that lasted 54 years. Nick's greatest joy in life was being parents to their daughters, Anne & Jill. Their home on Tainter Lake has always been a loving gathering place for family and friends alike. He was also a fun-loving grandfather to his five grandchildren, all of whom affectionately called him Bompa. He was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, sharing stories, laughter, and a good meal. He will be remembered for his steady guidance and his quick wit.
Nick's favorite time of year was the gun hunting deer season in November! In earlier years, the hunting group enjoyed successful hunts in and around Emerald. Most recently, Nick and family enjoyed hunting on their family land in Sherman Township. The hunt just won't be the same without him in the woods. Nick was a larger than life person in every way and will be greatly missed!
Nick is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Polasky) Rassbach; his daughters, Anne (Jason) Hasse and Jill (Brent) Pember; and his five beloved grandchildren, Grace, Adison, and Jai Hasse, and Chase and Tyler Pember. He is also survived by his sister, Geraldine Luepke; sisters-in-law, Pam Polasky and Judy Polasky; brothers-in-law, Dick Lamers and Carl Willard; niece, Kate Lamers; nephews, Joshua Polasky, Jonathon (Marcy) Polasky, and Sam (Sherry) Lamers, numerous great nieces and nephews and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Majorie Rassbach, his in-laws, Harold & Jeanne Polasky, his sister Marilyn Lamers, sister-in-law, Joan Polasky, and brothers-in-law, Jerry Luepke and Jerry Polasky.
