Oren Richard Knez, "Dick," passed away on July 21 at the age of 83 from a stroke. He leaves behind his partner, best friend, and wife, Patricia; his four children, Richard II, Steve, Kristin (Jake), and Brandon (Anita); his six grandchildren whom he adored, Richie III, Victoria, Macguire, Ty, Addison, and Clarke; his sister, Lynne; his brother, Oie.
Dick's life began in the heart of Illinois which became the roots of his sports stronghold. He was a big sports fan and would often watch any available game that was on, but have no doubt about it, if the Cubbies were on, or Da Bears were playing, he was cheering big time!
He had a passion for barbershop singing, with a chorus and in his own quartet, After Dark. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he did tours to Pearl Harbor and the Far East.
He never knew a stranger. He was personable, sincere, funny, and helpful. That was his foundation for his career in sales, allowed him to succeed as a business owner, and guided him to joyful fulfillment as a job coach with special needs adults.
We hope you smile when you think of him in his Cubs hat, him with a toothpick hanging off his lip after a meal, or see the Bears beat your favorite team. He lived his life in harmony and hopes that you do, too.
