June 16, 1956 - September 20, 2025
Perry Dennis Franz, 69, Elk Mound, WI, passed away September 20, 2025, after a short battle with an aggressive form of cancer. His family was by his side.
Perry was born in Minneapolis, MN on June 16, 1956, a son of the late Paul and Eula (Jackson) Franz and was raised in Elk Mound, WI.
On March 20, 1984, Perry married LouAnn Reiter and together they raised a daughter, Laura. They have lived in the same home for the last 35 years.
Perry got his degree from STU – "Self-Taught University" in mechanical design engineering. He was responsible for many patents and spent the last 41 years working in the super computer industry for Cray Research, SGI, Cray, Inc, and Hewlett-Packard Enterprise.
Perry was a jack of all trades; he could build anything! He had a love for Mopar and was extremely proud of his 1970 Road Runner, Dodge Stealth (Elusive1) and his Ram truck. He could always be found in his shop tinkering or dreaming up something to build. Perry will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, LouAnn of over 41 years and his daughter, Laura Franz of Verona, WI. He also leaves his brothers: Rick (Judi) Franz and Randy (Heidi) Franz, all of Elk Mound as well as his toy poodles, Toby & Teddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Peggy Grogan.
The visitation for Perry will be Friday, September 26, 2025, from 4 to 6 PM at Chippewa Valley Cremation Services – Celebration of Life Center, 1717 Devney Drive, Altoona, WI 54720. A prayer service will be held at 6 PM with a luncheon to follow.
The family wishes to thank Jaynee Collins for helping them through Perry's final days, neighbor Jeff Tollard for mowing the lawn, etc., and Sally and John Iverson for their support. Thanks also to Ed and Evan Reiter for finding Teddy.
