Phyllis Pecor, age 93, joined her Heavenly Father on Saturday, October 12. She was surrounded by family as she entered the presence of her savior.
Phyllis was born Phyllis Anne Graham on September 18, 1931, in Rhinelander, WI, and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1949. She married the dashingly handsome and charming Harvey Raymond Pecor on September 30, 1950, and they lived a life of love and faithfulness for over 63 years.
Phyllis had a strong faith in God and closely followed the teachings of His son, Jesus Christ. Compassionate, generous, and gracious, she lovingly and regularly shared these gifts with her family, her church, and the community. She leaves a legacy characterized by love, service, joy, positivity, and a lifelong passion for physical fitness.
Phyllis loved to serve others, first and foremost, as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Phyllis also regularly served at her home church of Bethlehem Lutheran and spent many years volunteering at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
She contributed her musical talent as a singer in the Valley Gospel Choir for 20 years and later combined her voice and compassion as part of the Stand in The Light Memory Choir.
From the early days of Jazzercise in the 1980s, through mini-trampolines, step aerobics, and every evolution of fitness trend up to the planking and strength classes she took in her 80s, Phyllis was known in local women's fitness circles as both tenacious and inspiring. There's little doubt her decades of exercise kept her strong and healthy, even into her 90s.
Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Barb and Sandy (Dave); sons, Bob (Pat), Bruce (Jeannie), and Jason (Tina); 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Mavis Gauthier.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey; parents, John and Esther; brother, Robert; sisters, Joyce and Helen; grandson-in-law, David; as well as two brothers-in-law, five nephews, and one niece.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 18 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2245 Hayden Ave., Altoona, with Pastor Tim Stein officiating and a luncheon to follow.
Visitation will be held prior to the funeral service from 1 to 2 p.m.
