Robert "Bob" Johnson, age 77, of Menomonie passed away at home after a heroic two year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Bob was born April 2,1946 in St. Charles, Illinois to the late Robert C. and Jean Johnson (Hokonson), the middle of 3 boys. He graduated from St. Charles High School and continued his education at UW Stout where he earned degrees in Technology Education and Guidance and Counseling. It was at Stout where he met the love of his life and wife of 51 years, Nancy; together they raised three children.
Following a 37 year career at UW Stout, Bob enjoyed retirement staying active fishing, kayaking, biking, walking, enjoying the outdoors & sitting by the lake. Most of all, Bob cherished every moment with his family; taking time to teach something new, completing a project around the house, sharing his wisdom & patience all with a good dad joke keeping everyone smiling. Bob will be remembered for so many things, most importantly living his life by his motto -"It's not what you accomplish, but the relationships you build on the journey."
Bob is survived by, and will be missed dearly by his wife Nancy, and kids, Justin Johnson (Julie Hafenstein), Amanda (Sam) George, Jared (Emily) Johnson, and 10 grandkids; brothers James Johnson (AR) and William (Diane) Johnson (FL); in-laws Jim (Mari-Ann) Wise, David Wise & Cheryl Wolfe, Sandra (Patrick) Wamser.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law Richard & Virginia Wise; sisters in-law, Jeri Johnson and Lisa Wise.
The family expresses gratitude and thanks to Mayo Hospice, Oncology and Chemo staff, and Mayo Clinic in Rochester for their kind and compassionate care.
Visitation with food and refreshments will be from 1-3 p.m. Friday, January 26 at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie with a celebration of life at 3 p.m.
